On The Edge Winter Retreat 2016

This weekend, MHS hosted youth ministry On The Edge’s fifth annual winter retreat. Over 400 students and staff members attended, making it one of the largest retreats OTE has seen since starting in 2011.

The retreat’s theme was “Absolute Surrender”, based out of Psalm 51:16-17. Pastors Bill Welsh, John Randall, John Hwang, and Caleb Beller spoke on what the theme meant to them, and how, throughout Scripture, surrendering to God resulted in victory.

Pastor John Hwang’s message out of Hebrews 11 showed us what it meant to have FAITH (Forsaking All, I Take Him) in the Lord, and how we ought to reevaluate what matters most to us - our comfort, and the life we’ve so carefully put together on our own, or living fully for Christ?

Workshops on subjects ranging from perseverance in ministry to accountability to having an effective prayer life were offered for the staff and students, as well as games, a prayer walk, and a time of worship Saturday afternoon.

People from across the nation, and even the globe, attended the winter retreat, and were brought to the feet of Jesus. Through the study of God’s Word, dorm discussion, and congregational worship, lives were changed.

This winter retreat saw many students giving over past sin and secrets they had been harboring, and restoration in their relationships with the Lord. Some came to Christ for the first time, while others either rededicated their lives or were baptized with the Holy Spirit. The weekend was one for the books!
