Did you know that there are actually seven states/countries that celebrate Thanksgiving? We, the United States, along with Saint Lucia and Grenada, celebrate Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday of the month of November, while Liberia celebrates on the first Thursday, Canada on the second Monday, and Norfolk Island (Australia) on the last Wednesday. The purpose of Thanksgiving is to “give thanks” for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. However, the finalization of America celebrating on the fourth Thursday wasn’t solidified until President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a joint resolution of Congress in 1941.
