Remodeling began in the late 1960’s as evidenced by the changes taking place in the management of the Murrieta Hot Springs. After 68 years, the Guenther family decided to sell the institution that was also their family home. Taxes were burdensome, people expected more anonymity; everything was different from the resort hotel and spa they started in 1902. It was time for a change. The Administration Building-known now as our Main Lobby-was constructed in a contemporary ranch style in 1962. The anteroom to the dining room was formerly a bar. The room was remodeled to reflect modern informality. Today, photos from the original Murrieta Hot Springs resort can be seen on the walls of the Fire Place Room in the Main Lobby.
