The History of Murrieta Hot Springs

The room that we now know as the Mercy Room was once home to an on-site gym guests frequented over several decades. Overlooking the swimming pool, the gym housed equipment for weight training, rowing, tumbling, juggling, and boxing. Along with this gym came a separate building across the resort that was specifically for professional boxers to use during their stay. Both gyms were converted after their popularity declined in the 1950’s — the first gym became a movie theater which played popular films from all genres on Wednesday and Sunday evenings, while the boxing building became a billiards house both guests and employees enjoyed. This building is now our weight room which is open to guests, students, and staff alike, free of charge.

Did you know that?
