Happy Labor Day!
Labor Day began in 1887 when the trade union and labor movement grew. Trade unionists suggested there be a day to stop working and instead celebrate manual labor. Oregon was the first state to have “Labor Day” as an official public holiday, and by the time the United States declared it a federal public holiday in 1894, thirty states recognized and celebrated it. It is also an “unofficial end” of the summer fashion season.
Did you know that the rule “do not wear white after Labor Day” was actually created by upper-class women who wanted a way to distinguish themselves from middle-and-lower-class women? Those who still wore white were not to be associated with. Pretty snobby, huh?
We hope you enjoy your day off of work, spending time with loved ones and celebrating the hard work you do throughout the year! We thank each and every one of our staff members who dedicate their time to making Murrieta Hot Springs Christian Conference Center a place of refreshment.
