OTE Summer ’16 is in full swing!
The week began with our annual beach trip. Starting with this gets us to unplug from the distractions of the world and helps the students get to know each other and their counselors. Beach camping was full of sun, surf lessons, and learning how to study the Word of God without distraction.
Students started classes on Thursday and we had our first Ice Cream Extravaganza (ICE) of the summer! There are two classes each morning, Monday through Thursday. The first class is Inductive Bible Study taught by Daniel Peterson. For the second class, Victorious Christian Living, girls and guys split and are taught by Larry and Crystal Hughes.
The ICE’s are a great way for the students to show their personality and bond with each other over ice cream and games. Our first theme was “Summer Crash and Bash.” Everyone dressed in bright colors or crazy prints, and competed for a sweet swag pack for their room!
Friday we were blessed to have Tony Espinosa kick off our lecture series. He encouraged us by asking, “Do you trust in the Lord with your dreams and goals?”
Saturday we had our third annual Power of Purity conference. This conference is an intense day of defining biblical purity and seeking the Lord for healing. Our theme this year was “The Greatest Love Story,” geared toward the ladies, and “The Greatest Fight Story,” geared toward guys. It was a special day of workshops, worship, and winning in the Lord.
We’ve had an amazing first week, and we’re all looking forward to the great things the Lord has in store for the remaining weeks!
