In America, Memorial Day is typically a holiday used for relaxing with family, enjoying a good outdoor barbecue, and hitting the endless sales stores offer. However, this holiday should be one of remembrance.
Historically, Memorial Day began in 1860 when people would decorate fallen soldiers’ graves with flowers. Today, we stop and reflect on all the heroes that gave their lives to protect our nation’s freedom. We thank those that fought for our independence, and pray for the families who lost their loved ones in battle.
