The History of Murrieta Hot Springs

The lake at Murrieta Hot Springs Christian Conference Center is known to be the centerpiece of the beautiful landscape at the historical property. Like the lake, many of the buildings have a lot of stories to tell about the rich history behind Murrieta Hot Springs.

In the early 1900’s, resort employees harvested mud from the tule marshes, our modern-day lake, and chopped it into squares with machetes to be carried by truck to the Mud Bath House, now known as the Maranatha Hall. A continuous flow of hot mineral water through the Mud Bath House helped guests to relax as it was known to ease bodily aches and pain. Mud was reused multiple times as fresh mineral water was added to the mud baths for each new guests. Guests raved about the curative powers of the mud baths.

Today, the staff at Murrieta Hot Springs Christian Conference Center has maintained the historical framework of the Maranatha Hall and have transformed it into one of the meeting rooms available for retreat guests!
